I hope to give some real help to those who are coming to Egypt!
Egypt between the city and the city is far away, the road condition is not very good, public transportation construction is also general, it is not recommended to travel freely, a lot of pits, semi-freestyle itinerary recommended, save time and effort, play well.
Be sure to find a group in advance!!! It's easier to fill a group early, and the more the cheaper. But don't find that kind of people a lot of groups, more people more things, no more than 10 people is best. We had eight people, the car was spacious, and everyone had a good time in twos and threes.
Urban Egypt can be a real disappointment, as it looks shabby and dilapidated. The old city of Cairo and Luxor, in particular, are chaotic in crowded places.
Before departure, buy a phone card and converter head on a treasure in advance, cheap and affordable, but it may not be available. It won't cost you more than a few bucks when we get to Egypt.
$300 to $500 for eight days is more than enough. Put on some comfortable shoes. The Egyptian roads are not easy.
Egypt is very dry and sunny. Buy more water and put it in the car. Egypt is also very dusty, so prepare masks and sunglasses in advance to avoid eating a mouthful of ash.
Hurghada is a fun boat trip, so bring your swimsuit and sun protection.
Hot air balloons generally 35-45 US dollars can fly, although we are with the group, but are their own hot air balloons, the price is in this range.
Our 8-day route
Day1 Arrive in Cairo, city walk for a day and stay at the Guardian Hostel Hotel with a view of the pyramids.
I vacated between the Guardian Hotel and the Mina Palace, and finally chose the Guardian Hotel because the room was special to shoot the pyramid.
The Guardian Hotel experience has a few complaints.
Before check-in time or after check-out, luggage is not allowed to be placed at the front desk, only in the corridor. And there's no elevator, and the front desk doesn't handle suitcases.
We have booked the pyramid view room, but we were charged a total of $10 more for two rooms at the store.
We met the front desk only a fat man, has not been smiling, but to Europeans and Americans will smile.
The front desk took us to the room and clearly told us that we could not move the bed and could not eat. We did not believe our feelings and repeated them.
The whole hotel is the level of the county hostel in the 1990s, the hygiene is absolutely not clean, there are many stains on the quilt.
However, the view is really invincible, check in before the fall, see the Sphinx feel so close, the partners are very excited. After 7 o 'clock, the pyramid began to light show, immersive interpretation, the sound of the scenic area is very loud, just like being in a documentary, the experience is also very wonderful. The next morning when the curtains were drawn and the carriages passed and the pyramids were close at hand, it all felt worth it.
We booked a triple room with a bench in front of the window. We put our suitcases behind the bench and took pictures of ourselves lying on the bench and the suitcase without moving the bed.
Breakfast variety is small, but there is an eggplant friends are quite like.
So, if you like this kind of immersive, like to take photos, do not hesitate to experience one night.
Day2 Pyramids, Egyptian Museum
Currently only the Great Hall, Grand Staircase, Tutankhamun exhibition is open, ticket price is 1200EGP
Located next to the pyramids of Giza, the floor-to-ceiling Windows of the grand staircase offer views of the pyramids. Next to it is a model showing the design principles of the grand museum. From the three pyramids, a straight line links the great museum, forming a triangle known as the fourth pyramid of Egypt.
The totems of the Pharaohs carved on the outside wall of the museum's gate are bright and meaningful. As soon as you enter the door, you can see the huge statue of Ramses II, vaguely understanding that the guide means that it was found in Alexandria, when Alexandria was under the sea (I don't know if it is accurate).
The Grand Egyptian Museum, which is expected to fully open later this year, will celebrate the opening of the museum for 12 consecutive days, during which different people can enter in stages, of course, tourists are the last few days. The only day I had a certified tour guide, he was very enthusiastic when he introduced the opening of the great museum, I could see he was very proud. The highlight of the opening ceremony was the transport of the Tutanka mask from Ebo to the Grand Museum. Look at the concept video, it is the form of ancient Egypt, a large sedan chair with a mask, followed by many, many escorts. From the attitude of the tour guide, the Tutankhamun mask is the most precious cultural relic in Egypt, more than ten kilograms of pure gold mask, currently placed in Ebo is not allowed to take photos.
Tutankhamun ruled in his 10-19 years old, formerly known as Tutankatun, corresponding to Amun God and Aten God, did not make much contribution to Egypt when he was in power, was taken to the throne as a child, was controlled and coveted, it is estimated that life is very difficult.
The tour guide told an interesting story, when Tutankhamun died, he was declared to have fallen from a horse to death, and later archaeologists did an X-ray on his mummy and found that Tutankhamun had deformed legs and could not ride, and there was a deep wound on his head, which proved that he was murdered.
Tutankhamun's death was sudden and the tomb was built in a hurry (like 90 days). The Pharaohs buried in the Valley of the Kings are specially recorded, but they forgot to record Tutankhamun's tomb, so it was never discovered by the tomb robbers. Discovered by Carter as a complete tomb, Tutankhamun became famous for his archaeology.
Tutankhamun in the Grand Museum is cool, modern and high-tech, a far cry from Cairo's run-down. Although the myth of Tutankhamun is somewhat exaggerated, the British dug into Egypt (the British Museum has the largest collection of mummies in the world) through the pharaoh's account of the ancient Egyptian belief in rebirth. I also recorded some videos. It's really worth watching. It's amazing.
Day3 Abu Simbel Temple
I thought going to Abu Simbel would be as easy as going to the pyramids, but I asked the hotel front desk to find out that the bus from the Old Falls Hotel to Abu Simbel only leaves at 7 a.m.
If you want to take a taxi, it is impossible, because you need to apply for a permit 24 hours in advance. But Abu Simbel Temple is the place I want to go most this time in Egypt. After reviewing all the guidelines and looking for all kinds of people, I finally contacted a local driver with a permit, and spent 2,600 pounds chartered for a whole day to successfully reach the destination. Seven hours back and forth. That's a long way. It's really beautiful.
Since we started so late, we arrived at 2.30pm and missed the sight of the sun shining directly on the Pharaoh.
But it was also a blessing in disguise, because by afternoon the crowds had long gone and there were only a handful of tourists/locals there,
So it's easy to get a lot of good pictures.
The day ends with the Pharaoh's earthy love for his beloved concubine, "As long as the Nile flows and the sun shines, my attachment to her will never die." For me, as long as the Nile is flowing and the sun is shining, my attachment to Abu Simbel will always be there.
Day4 Temple of Philae
The only water temple dedicated to the goddess of love, ISIS, is a 10-minute trip by boat.
The ferry ticket is also in the usual Egyptian style: The most beloved of Egypt's many sacred palaces, the Temple of Philae is more than 2,000 years old, and was originally located on the island of Philae when the Aswan High Dam caused the Nile to rise
In 1972 with the help of the United Nations
It took eight years to move the whole temple brick by brick to the present island, although it was soaked in the river for half a year and experienced more than two thousand years of baptism, but the temple murals are still well preserved.
Day5 Hot Air Balloon
You'll regret it forever, the cheapest hot air balloon in the world,
Don't listen to the tour guide, screw the Chinese,
Contact yourself, contact yourself, contact yourself, as little as 1200 Egyptian pounds (about 150 RMB)
I'm telling you, 50 bucks, 45 bucks, 30 bucks, they're all fucking black,
1200 Egyptian package transfer, I came to you one night in advance to get the money (I gave half the deposit, half the next day), and left for the first flight at 4.40 in the morning
Day6 Hurghada Paradise Island day tour, there are glass boat, banana boat, snorkeling and other activities, in the evening and evening on the beach
It is highly recommended to try scuba diving below the surface of the sea is a different world, experienced diving instructor will take you to find different kinds of animals and beautiful coral, will teach you to play small fish, let you circle in the water, double the fun. The second dive will also take you to the bottom according to your condition! I had a terrible pain in my ear! But it's within my limits! Still hit bottom!!
Day7 continues the dolphin chase and the buffet on this day is delicious.
Be sure to ask if there is an extra charge, generally a coach is 1v2 for 15 minutes per session
Secondly, bring a bathing suit, a quick drying bath towel, a change of clothes (the world water is still good, up the sea breeze blowing is still very cold, I have a friend Snorkeling up are out of temperature, the mouth is purple) ocean friendly sun protection;
Chasing dolphin is not recommended, it's all a matter of luck, if there are no dolphins your day will be a waste... The friends we met in Cairo who reported the chase in Hurghada for the day with nothing and 300 pounds more than us
If you report orange island, be sure to confirm with the guide in advance whether you can go on the island, because the number of people on the island is limited every day, some travel agencies may take you to the pier, but you can't go on the island, you can only wait outside, wait for the yacht to come back to pick you up and leave
Day8 Fly to Cairo to transfer back home
Egypt play really tired very tired very tired, fortunately we are with the group, if it is free travel, dare not imagine. If you want to relax, you can only lengthen the time, but it will become expensive, our trip is a very cost-effective route.
Friends who are ready to go in June and July suggest cancelling Aswan, especially Abu Simbel Temple, which is very not recommended, because it is really super hot and far away, and it takes more than 7 hours once and again.
But it's worth it, and Egypt is a great destination to visit.
