Switzerland 1800m alpine lake ice diving experience

Every winter, many diving clubs in Switzerland will organize ice diving, which is afraid of cold star people thinking of a rare experience, bite their teeth to sign up.

Location: Lac Lioson (Switzerland's most famous ice diving spot) is not far from Lausanne and is famous for its clear water and high visibility

Requirements: 18 + years old, AOWD, dry clothes diving experience

Each dive is usually 15-20min (recreational diving generally requires ice potential within 30min)

Gear: Bring your own, rent (extra charge) More than half of us on this trip are experienced and frequent dry divers with their own gear, and newcomers like me who don't have their own dry clothes account for about a quarter to a third

Lac Lioson's ice diving is generally two days over the weekend, Saturday morning at the bottom of the mountain, snowshoeing hike up the mountain (1h or so), first dive, lunch, second dive, dinner, stay in a cabin by the lake (dormlike bunk setup... Let's just say there's a bed in the mountains... The next day, after breakfast, the third dive, lunch, hiking or sledding down the mountain, and the time is about 1:30 p.m. Sunday

How it feels: Fantastic! The light under the ice on a sunny day is beautiful! I thought it would be too cold, but in fact, it is OK, wear a very thick dry clothes matching the bottom layer is very warm third dive I have a problem with a dry clothes glove, temporarily replaced by 3mm wet gloves to dive for 17 minutes

I've heard about other ice diving spots in Switzerland: Silsersee at Plaun da Lej, Lac de Taney, Lago di Sassolo
(Basically all need to be organized through the club, interested can search the Swiss diving club/dive shop website registration)

I've heard about ice diving in France: Tignes, Lac de Montriond

I also can not swim, should be a certain representative, after all, many people can not swim, but also want to snorkel.

Can not swim can also play snorkeling, to be fully prepared, otherwise it is easy to become a failure experience, can not swim + first snorkeling, high probability because too nervous to drink a few sips of sea water, into the fear of "ah I want to drown", excessive tension in the sea is very dangerous. It's a vicious cycle. I don't want to snorkel anymore.

Take my daughter as an example. When she went to Phi Phi Island in Thailand in August, she took a swimming class. In fact, she was very afraid of the water and dared not go to the deep water area.

For this reason, I specially let her sign up for a training class, and then let her get used to swimming in the deep water area, and finally learned for two weeks, wearing snorkeling glasses and snorkeling tube practice (Figure 4 style), do not buy Figure 5, it is very difficult to use.

In my case, I can't swim but practiced wearing snorkeling goggles in the pool for over a week. Even if you are skilled, there is a certain chance of choking water, to learn to deal with the snorkeling pipe water, although the current snorkeling pipe has an automatic water closure function, unfamiliar snorkeling is easy to panic. So, practicing blowing out the water in the snorkel tube is the key to using the snorkel tube, so that you will be much more comfortable when snorkeling.

In addition, snorkeling is best to wear a full-body swimsuit, sun protection + prevent being bitten by small fish. Skip thicker skins.

If you don't want to practice in a swimming pool, you can practice on a calm beach. If you want to play snorkeling well, you must be skilled in using snorkeling equipment, although snorkeling is not difficult, in fact, even people who can swim, not familiar with the snorkeling tube will panic and choke. Have time, it is best to practice wearing a life jacket floating, so that in the sea diving mirror water, fog, can be slightly off in the sea water, similar to the beaver posture.

Snorkeling pipe water is generally two reasons, the first is the cause of the wave water, second, is the head posture is not right, generally snorkeling, the head should look like the oblique front, do not head too low, the face looks vertically into the sea, and even to the direction of the legs, so 100% will water, and will enter a lot, because this position, the suction mouth probability has been close to the sea, Or it's already in the ocean.

The snorkeling tube is farthest from the surface of the water when the head is only slightly tilted forward, because the suction is at the back of our head.

About the life jacket, I suggest that as long as you do not dive freely, it is best to wear a life jacket, snorkeling another problem is that the mirror is easy to water, so before entering the water to check whether the glasses are tight enough, there are no folds around, the most common occurrence for girls is that the glasses press a lock of hair, water is easy to leak from the pressure of the hair, the face mirror into the water is very uncomfortable, That's why girls snorkel with their hair tied up. After launching, swim around the boat for a while to see if the mirror will leak, and then swim farther away without leaking, and then get off the boat when it leaks.

Dealing with mirror water and fog, snorkeling is often faced, the more skilled snorkeling feel better.
