People who live in Japan may find that there are many bizarre slides in Japanese parks. The most popular of all shapes is the octopus slide, and today I will tell you why there are so many octopus slides in Japan.

The birth of the octopus slide

Japan's first octopus slide was created by sculptor Ken Kudo, professor emeritus at Tama Art University. Ken Kudo worked for an amusement company after graduation and designed the Stone Mountain slide. Subsequently, the company received a commission from the Adachi District government in Tokyo to design a slide for the park, and Kudo Ken took out his proud work "Stone Mountain", but the other party said, "I can't understand what this is, put the head on top to make an octopus!"

Although the proud work was rejected, it was still necessary to meet the needs of the father of the party A, so the octopus slide was born. After the octopus design, orders surged, and octopus slides appeared in parks across Japan.

Where's the first octopus slide?
The first octopus slide recognized in Japan is in Shin-Sai Arai Park in Adachi Ward, Tokyo, which was born in 1965 (Showa 40).
But now the slide has been changed from a red octopus to a space octopus. At present, there are 11 octopus slides in Adachi Ward, and you can also find a map of the distribution of 11 slides on the Adachi Ward website.
