If there is only one place to go in Kyoto, I recommend it....

Kyoto's perfect temple for daze - Kenrenji Temple

Flower see path accidentally encountered the temple, originally wanted to find leica store, who want not to open the door, go straight ahead, at the end of the road you can see a memorial, on the right stone tablet engraved Linji Zong Dabenshan Jian Ren Temple.

There are not many visitors in the temple, and the trees are lush and the environment is quiet. This scene reminds me of the Tang Dynasty often built "after the temple" "early morning into the ancient temple, the early sunshine high forest, Zen room flowers and trees deep... All sounds here are silent."

Wear slippers, buy tickets, enter the temple, according to the route to visit, slippers unified amazing large, dragging the whole process 😥, change shoes opposite is Jianren Temple famous motto: great zai heart. Check, great Zai heart is Jianren Temple Kai group Rong Xi Zen master's words: "Great zai heart, heaven is too high to reach." And the heart is above heaven.

Kenhito Temple, one of the oldest Zen temples in Kyoto, was founded during the Kamakura period in the second year of Kenhito (1202). The name of the temple is directly derived from the name of the time. The founder of the temple was Eisai, who brought Zen techniques back to Japan after practicing in China and founded the temple here.

🏞 Architectural style
Jianren Temple has a unique architectural style, and the temple hall is built after the Baizhang Mountain in China, which is full of simplicity and elegance. Plain wall log, no powder, like a plain and indifferent ink painting, let people immerse in Zen instantly.

🎨 is a place worth seeing

1️⃣ Wind god Thunder Screen: a highlight of Jianren Temple! The two folding screens are all covered with gold leaf, the right half depicts the god of wind, the left half depicts the god of thunder, gorgeous and mysterious.

2️⃣ Kukshanshui Courtyard: Kukshanshui Courtyard is definitely worth an afternoon. Zen master Rongxi crossed the sea twice into the Song Dynasty to understand the world of Zen, hidden in a sand and a stone, and the Abbot Neihai North Yousatsu ink painting echoes, creating another kind of secret majestic.

3️⃣ Double Dragon picture: Japanese artist Junaku Koizumi painted it in 2002 to commemorate the 800th anniversary of Kenin-Ji Temple. Be sure to look up at the ceiling of Kenin-ji Temple and admire this 15.7x11.4 meter giant painting.

4️⃣ Tomatsu Kaibei: A master of Japanese painting in Momoyama period, he left a total of 50 coat paintings in Kenren Temple. The 8 coat paintings "Cloud Dragon" decorated between abbot ceremonies are the most representative, about 2 meters high. Majestic clouds and mist flow with ink and water, and the posture of the dragon is poured out. The paintings are deeply influenced by the painting techniques of the Chinese Song and Yuan Dynasties, while integrating the essence of Japanese Zen, forming a unique artistic style.

If you like ancient architecture and come to Kyoto, don't miss Kenren Temple.

Spring tour | sakura at Kedu Yasui Kimbiro Palace 🌸

Founded in 1177 in Gion, Kyoto, Yasai Kinbiro Palace is one of the few shrines in Japan to make good marriages and eliminate bad ones. Inside the shrine is a huge stone 1.5 meters high and 3 meters wide, shaped like a painting horse.

There is a hole in the middle of the stone, through the front of the stone can cut off bad luck, through the back can make good marriage. It is said that sick people who want to stop drinking and gambling also come here to pray for their bad luck.

This year's cherry blossom season went to Yasui Kimbiro Palace, found that it is also a super beautiful cherry viewing place, and there are not many people. So I took some photos to document this year's super short cherry blossom season.
