Egypt Tour · Feel shock and awe in the Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings is located on the west bank of Luxor, and in religious belief, the sun's circular motion is an important prerequisite for the reincarnation of the emperor. The western meaning is "sunset" or "hell".

In the Valley of the Kings, where ancient Egyptian pharaohs and nobles were buried between 3,600 and 3,100 years ago (the 18th and 20th dynasties of the New Dynasty), archaeological excavations have uncovered 62 tombs.

The Valley of the Kings is divided into the West Valley and the East Valley, and the west Valley is a temple of the queen. The tombs of the pharaohs are mostly in the East Valley.

The reason why the pharaohs in the past built tombs here is because building pyramids is too laborious, and the goal is too big, which is equivalent to telling the tomb robbers: there is treasure. The mountain top of the Valley of the Kings is like a huge pyramid, with this natural mountain as a "pyramid", the pharaoh will build their own underground mausoleums for feng shui treasure.

These mausoleums vary in size, and the maximum horizontal distance of the tomb passage in the underground mausoleums is more than 200 meters, and the vertical descent depth is more than 40 meters. Under the technical conditions at that time, it was very difficult to dig out the underground palace in such rocks. Inside these tombs, the walls and ceilings are covered in colored frescoes. These painted colors of more than 3,000 years ago are still so bright, which makes me feel incredible today.
Tutankhamun's tomb is particularly unique, and in 1922, Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered in the Valley of the Kings. The mausoleum is basically well preserved, and more than 3,000 important cultural relics such as the king's gold coffin and gold mask have been unearthed.

A ticket to the Valley of the Kings allows you to visit three of the tombs that are open that day, with additional tickets required for Ramses VI KV9 and Tutankhamun KV62.

Many people say that the murals in the Valley of the Kings are much the same, various excerpts from the book of the dead, how to teach the old man to be reborn, and a few free tombs are enough. I selected three charging tombs with one click, and understood that each had its own expensive reasons.

📍KV 9 Tomb of Ramses V & VI
For 120 pounds, the mural is well restored, the king of value
The Fifth reigned only five years and died of smallpox; The sixth will only be like seven or eight years. To put it nicely, it is the tomb of two pharaohs, but actually it is the tomb of the sixth who used the tomb of the fifth.
The reason was that the power of this period was unstable, the priestly clique intervened in the finance, and the sixth emperor could not afford to build his own tomb. Even so, it is still decorated with resplendent gold, and the black gold ceiling is very expensive.

📍KV 62 Tomb of Tutankhamun
The Valley of the Kings is one of the best preserved tombs with high historical value

  1. The burial was rushed, and the murals were too late to dry, leaving a thousand years of black mold spots. It was an accident, either a sudden illness or a victim.
His father was the ugliest pharaoh in Egyptian history, Amenhotep IV, of whom there is a huge statue in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. During his father's reign, he carried out the religious reform and wanted to "personify" God and replace it with the Toten-type sun god "Ah swallow God". So Tutankhamun was originally named Tutankatun. But the upper not long to withstand the pressure of the priest group, waste father's ah swallow God, change the reply "Amun God". He also changed his name to show loyalty, and died soon after
  2. The tomb contains the mummy of Tutankhamun himself. The gold mask on the mummy's body, the two gold coffins outside, are in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. 200 pounds of solid gold coffins, and two of them!
  3. There are only two pictures in the small tomb, one is the process of signing with God face to face on his way to life, and the other is 12 baboons representing 12 months
    • You can count the animals when you see them rearranged in a table
  4. High probability means 12 months. Look up a lot, you might see 12 constellations
    24, which means 24 hours
On top of the dome, surrounded by a large disc you can count 36 of the 12 signs of the zodiac

📍KV 17 Tomb of Seti I
His son Ramses II is better known, but he specializes in architecture.
The spirit of construction, he brought it! z The famous Karnak temple large column hall, repair to his son to finish, it can be imagined that his tomb is also a domineer wind.
The son took his grandfather's name instead of his surname, presumably because the two lived together for some time. The second wanted to make the chronology longer and changed it back.
z expensive, large space and high maintenance costs.
