The Steel Art Museum is located at No. 3, Huying Street, Tiedong District, Anshan City. It used to be the auditorium of Angang Party School Club. The building started construction in November 1983 and was completed and put into use in October 1985.

With 730 seats, the project covers an area of about 2,400 square meters, with a total construction area of 1,050 square meters and a construction area of 2130 square meters after renovation. The building is made of red brick as a whole, and there are exhibition Spaces, artist studios, design studios, cafes, restaurants and other multi-functional business types inside.

On January 25, 2022, Steel Art Museum was officially opened, which has become a new landmark of Steel City culture and a place for avant-garde art.
Anshan, standing because of steel and thriving because of enterprises, is the first iron and steel industry city in China and the largest iron and steel industry city in Northeast China, and has the reputation of the eldest son of the Republic.

The Steel Art Museum retains the original modernist architectural form of the 1980s. Based on the original architectural structure, red bricks and oxidized steel plates representing the atmosphere of the old industrial base are used as architectural regional elements to create a birthplace of art with a strong industrial atmosphere.

The Steel Art Museum shoulders the cultural responsibilities of carrying forward outstanding traditional culture, collecting our fine art, strengthening international and domestic exchanges, promoting contemporary art creation, creating fine arts plateau and peak, and benefiting public cultural services. It never forgets its original intention and keeps its mission in mind.

The art museum is divided into two floors, the overall feeling of nostalgia, and a huge spiral staircase connects the two floors of the exhibition hall. The second floor retains the original truss structure, restoring the historical appearance and increasing the overall visual effect.

As the main designer Liang Chen said, for urban construction, it is not to demolish and rebuild, but to give the city "regeneration". Currently on display is "Meet the Backbone - Steel City Art Installation Exhibition" (2024.6.30-9.10), the content of the exhibition is mostly nostalgic photos, badges, awards, certificates, happy news, city documents, old objects and other nearly 1,500 pieces.
