Salvador Neptune Festival in Brazil
The Sea God Festival, which can be understood as the Brazilian Mazu, or Dia de Iemanja in Portuguese, is one of the important traditional festivals in Brazil, celebrated every year on February 2. On this day, people in the northeastern Brazilian city of Salvador gather on the coast of Rio Vermelho to pay their respects and gratitude to the goddess of the sea, Iemanja.
Iemanja is an important deity in the Afro-Brazilian religion, symbolizing the sea, motherhood and fertility. During the festival, thousands of believers dress in blue and white and come to the beach bearing flowers, perfume, jewelry and other gifts. These gifts are usually sent into the sea in a basket to pray for Iemanja's protection and blessing. The ceremony was full of music, dance and prayer. It was spectacular and sacred.
The Iemanja Festival is not only a religious ceremony, but also an important moment to showcase Brazil's diverse culture and rich traditions. It reflects the profound influence of African culture in Brazilian society, while also attracting many visitors to experience and appreciate this unique cultural celebration.
