Geneva - The wooden chair with the broken leg, your masterpiece
Don't miss the broken-legged wooden chair standing in front of the Palais des Nations at the European headquarters of the United Nations. At the end of the last century, in order to commemorate the entry into force of the "Mine Protocol", the famous sculptor DanielBerset created this memorial sculpture on behalf of the International Disabled Persons Federation to remind the world to remember the damage caused by landmines to civilians in war.
The 12-meter-tall chair is made of 5.5 tons of wood. The large wooden chair is still standing despite the loss of one leg, only relying on the remaining three legs, which symbolizes the strong and dignified people who are still alive after being mutilated by landmines in the war.
The wooden chair with broken legs, the symbol of the anti-mine organization, has become one of the most landmark works of art of the 21st century.
