A hundred years ago, the giant Duisburg Landscape Park!

Originally just wanted to come to shoot a group of cool waste wind, but was shocked by this factory complex that rose from the ground 120 years ago!

When I read about the Ruhr in German, it was often described as an industrial area in decline, with many abandoned factories being converted into places of rest and recreation. Duisburg North Scenic Park is an important step in the exploration of the transformation of the Ruhr region. It is a smelter converted into a landscape, leisure, holiday park.

The previous life of industrial heritage - the Golden Age of steel works
The former site of the Duisburg Landscape Park is the historic Medrich Steel mill, which was built in 1901. At that time, it was one of the most important steel production bases in Germany and even in Europe, and it had made a great contribution to the industrial development of Germany. The blast furnaces, chimneys and pipes in the factory are the witnesses of that era.

Turmoil and rebirth during World War II
During World War II, the steel plant was also an important military industrial base, supplying much of Germany's steel. However, the end of the war and the ensuing industrial decline led to the closure of the steel mill in 1985. Although the operation of the factory stopped, the industrial relics it left behind became the cornerstone of its future transformation.

The metamorphosis of this life - the gorgeous turn of the abandoned factory
With the development of The Times, in the 1990s, the city of Duisburg decided to turn this abandoned factory into a public park, adding a new green to the city. After careful design and renovation, the ruins of the steel factory were reopened in 1994 as the Duisburg Landscape Park we see today.

The park perfectly combines industrial sites and natural landscapes, retaining the original industrial features and incorporating a large amount of green vegetation. Today, it is not only a paradise for photography lovers, but also for outdoor enthusiasts - rock climbing, diving, cycling, you name it!

The wonder of light and shadow at night
At night, it is even more beautiful! The different colors of lights turn the old factory building into a dreamlike world of light and shadow, which is a blockbuster at any time!

The scenic park satisfies all my imagination of post-industry and wasteland. The scenic park is both a tombstone, an alarm bell and a new paradise. These days I visited mining museums, open-pit mines, scenic parks, and felt that old palaces, churches, temples can be preserved as landscapes and relics, as well as relics from the old industrial era. Sophisticated factories are beautiful in their own way. They are a reminder of the wisdom that man has shown in transforming and exploiting nature, and should serve as a warning to future generations.
