Town hall relics: Zhu ink painted two-body pottery pot
Date: Late Stone Age, 4000-5000 years ago
Features: Two identical bag-shaped POTS are linked, with holes, and the surface is decorated with double hook triangle fold line pattern and double hook diamond pattern, painted by red ink and two colors.
Purpose: Used for sacrificial rites and celebrations
Background: Unearthed in 1978 at the Kalo Site in Qamdo City, Tibet, the Kalo Site is the best preserved, largest, earliest, and richest settlement site of the Tibetan New Era in the Tibet Autonomous Region. Its discovery has advanced the history of Tibet to four or five thousand years ago.
Known as the light of Tibet's prehistoric civilization, the double-body pottery pot is one of the 100 cultural relics banned by the state from leaving the country for exhibition and is the prototype of the logo design of the Tibet Museum.
