This is my third work-stay abroad, on a farm near Belluno Dolomiti in northern Italy. I and a British volunteer sister, she left this Thursday, I don't know when the next volunteer will come, I will stay until next Friday. The farmer has a family of four, two cute little boys, a great host, a warm neighbor, but the physical work is very tiring! Disenchantment with the farm!
It is also the most tiring experience of working to change the night, mainly doing farm work, taking care of small animals more easily, getting up at 7 o 'clock every day, starting to feed big chickens & chicks at 7:30, feeding sheep, putting sheep out to eat grass, cleaning the sheep pen, after I came to the potato field for four days, each lasting four and a half hours, until 12:30, 1 o 'clock more to eat lunch.
After the potato field is finished, there should be no need to pull out the grass, really super tired! Mainly the waist can not stand!
For four days my waist seemed to be cut off, and my thighs were sore from squatting all the time, as if I had been walking for a week. During the period has been drizzling, under the big we will enter the greenhouse to tomatoes tied branches, pruning, tied pepper branches.
Help prepare food at noon and evening, clean up and wash, and have dirty clothes to wash, dry and put away every day.
Count the chickens at night, drive the sheep back to the sheep pen, close the greenhouses, etc.
Take the afternoon off, or play games with the two boys at home, most of us.
On weekdays, it is mainly us and other long-term helpers, as well as the neighbors, and there are many guests at home on weekends. On Saturday, there is an activity or host's brother's birthday. On Sunday, many of us went to Dolomite for hiking. If you stay at home, you basically have to help, because there are too many guests.
It is recommended to change the farm work for 2 weeks, do not stay too long, otherwise too tired. General work to change accommodation are required to start from 2 weeks, 1 week is very few.
Malaysia's work-for-sleep is a small family workshop, homemade drinks, help cook at noon, do not work in the afternoon, go to the beach in the evening, there are three volunteers, very happy. The Greek job is to take care of a one-and-a-half year old boy, live in a big villa with a big swimming pool, and work hours are not fixed, because the main play with the children and assist in cleaning.
Italian farm this is mainly physical work, the most tiring of the three! Especially in the morning too late to eat breakfast, do not know what to eat, less than noon super hungry super hungry! I have no strength to work!
All the host families are amazing and the people are very friendly. My favorite is Greek, although the rest time is not fixed, even a day is to take children, children are better to take. When my mother is not at home, I also have to help on weekends, and I am the only volunteer. During the rest, I have complete solitude. I live alone in a small house with my own kitchen, and I have food, fruit and snacks whenever I am hungry. You can eat whatever you want in your own kitchen. Host is rich and generous. My fridge is full. They have two villas with large yards, far away and quiet.
The environment around the Italian farm is great, there are small animals, there are many neighbors, the family is not short of people, every day is very busy.
The Italian countryside is really comfortable and nice to stay, and the farm work is really tiring! My everyday feeling is so hungry, so tired, so full, and hungry, so sleepy, do not think.
