A summer date in South France Provence, how to miss the classic town, and the famous lavender fields! Today, we will introduce a classic one-day tour route in Provence, round trip to Avignon, and contain the size of the must-go attractions, let's take a look and prepare for the holiday trip in southern France!
Spring water town
Just a 40-minute drive from Avignon hides an afternoon wonderland, a southern French resort where locals frolic. Passing several private lavender fields along the way, the original plan was to head for Gordes 🪨, but unexpectedly found a fairy-looking spring water town, Av. Robert Garcin, 84800 Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. Provence Spring town, known as the first spring in France, is currently the deepest spring in France, the third largest spring in the world, has attracted the poet Petrarch to settle here. The beautiful canyons and flowing springs make this place also known as the paradise of Provence by tourists.
Drive through several parking lots, the largest parking lot is closest to the spring town, where the locals are full of laughter, families have fun there, friends are there to have a picnic party, we also happened to bring picnic MATS, snacks and, staring at the water plants and birds, just like a scene in the movie. After the picnic, we walked to the small town of Fountain Water and found a cafe. Although the town is small, it shows a strong southern French style. As night falls, head to nearby Isle-sur-Sorgue for dinner. The whole town looks very romantic at night, and each restaurant is surrounded by the small bridge built along the river, as if there is a candlelit dinner party everywhere.
Stone city
The viewing platform on the top of the mountain opposite the Stone City has a panoramic view of this "city in the sky", you can take a picture of the magnificent wall, while overlooking the beautiful Provence Luberon valley! The stone town of Gordes is built on the mountain, French original meaning is "hanging in the air village", the whole village is made of rocks, stone house arches, narrow alleys, castles give this ancient village unique beauty, the city can walk, there are a variety of restaurants and shops. We arrived relatively late, so we found the best viewing spot on the mountain road overlooking the complete stone city, which was very impressive.
One of the "most beautiful towns in France" Stone town, translated as Golde (or Gaud village), is a typical French Provence town, built in the Middle Ages, the whole town is built by granite, standing in the hinterland of Provence, built by the mountain, simple and quiet and unique.
Castles, churches, stairs and blue sky constitute the main scene of the medieval town, the color is fresh, and the blooming flowers around break the quiet and bring vitality.
Former French President Mitterrand's mansion is also hidden here. Every year in July, there is an international photography festival here, many photographers and artists come to participate in the lively.
Senenk Monastery
"Not visiting the Abbey of Senenque is like not visiting Provence."
The Monastery of Senenque was built in 1148 and is one of three famous Cistercian monasteries in Provence. Known as one of the "most beautiful valleys in France", the purple lavender fields and the stately and beautiful monasteries constitute a harmonious picture, adding a religious calm and silence to the romantic flower language. Most of the postcards in Provence were shot here, and the book "Life in the Mountains" is based on this story. The architecture of the monastery is typical of the Romanesque style, simple and generous, especially with a sense of history. You'll see thick stone walls, semicircular arches, and the kind of small, narrow Windows that are perfect for meditation and meditation. There are large lavender fields around Senenk Monastery, and in the summer, the purple flowers are full of eyes, which is beautiful. It's a great place to relax and feel the peace of nature. The convent is located in the province of Vaucluse, not far from Avignon and Gord. You can drive there by yourself, the scenery is also very beautiful, there are parking lots around, it is very convenient.
The Senenk Monastery also hosts special events such as concerts and art exhibitions. If you have the opportunity to run into these events, it will be a really special experience. In short, Senenk Monastery is truly a beautiful and full of history and culture, whether it is to take photos, or meditation, it is well worth visiting!
Redsoil City
Roussillon lies in the heart of one of the largest ochre deposits in the world and is known for its magnificent red cliffs and ochre quarries. The reds, yellows and browns of the earth contrast sharply with the lush pine trees. Provence's blue skies and unique light make this a magical place. It's like an artist's palette, with endless color combinations, from yellow to purple to pink and red.
It was late that day, and there was a little aesthetic fatigue, so I did not enter the village to walk along the ochre trail, and did not visit the "ochre Museum" (Ecomusee de l'Ocre). Only at the entrance of the village along the main road through the village.
The houses of the whole town are made of ochre stone, the little flowers on the windowsills, the green vines on the doors, and the winding winding paths constitute a strong French style. There are dozens of artists living in seclusion in the town, and they hold their own exhibitions all year round.
There are two viewing platforms in the town, one is the red Earth City itself built by the mountains, which can overlook the entire valley, and the other is the Red Earth City walk 300 meters at the foot of the mountain, you can see the full picture of the Red Earth City, which is also a great shooting point.
Lavender sochon
Come to the "Lavender City" located in the valley. Due to the high altitude, the lavender flower season here is also relatively late (mid-June - around August 20).
Suo Village terrain ups and downs, scattered, in the lavender bloom, the scenery of the mountains as an ornament, is a very out of the film shooting location. The lavender of Suocun is native lavender, and its lavender essential oil has high Yao value.
